Hi, I'm Marja
(pronounced Maaria) I am the director of Clearlingo, and I love turning complex writing into user-friendly content. I am a qualified and experienced editor, proofreader and plain language consultant, and work with clients in a range of subject areas and genres. I recognise that writing is highly personal and that it reflects both your and your organisation's reputation. I provide a safe pair of hands to ensure your words are readable and clear, and take pride in delivering top-quality work on time and to your brief. My goal is to ensure your writing is stress-free and polished. My approach is to listen your needs and provide a cost-effective and suitable option. I will then work with you to make sure your writing is clear, consistent and compelling while preserving your unique voice (that's what makes your writing yours). Before my career in editing, I've worked both as a speech and language therapist and as a marketing assistant, areas which have enhanced my passion for grammar and the nuances of language. I was born in The Netherlands and immigrated to New Zealand when I was four, completing all my schooling and tertiary education here. I grew up in Wellington and now live on a farm in South Canterbury with my family. I recognise the status of te reo Māori as an official language of Aotearoa New Zealand and as a taonga under Te Tiriti o Waitangi. I understand how important it is to ensure the quality and integrity of te reo Māori content. I have learned te reo Māori to a basic level, and am always learning more. I recognise that I am not qualified to provide translation or corrections in te reo, but I am experienced in how to use te reo Māori within English text. I am very aware of when I need to consult with appropriate experts. |
